Where Does Thursday Go?
Published in Hardcover by Clarion Books (15 March, 2002)
Authors: Janeen Brian and Stephen Michael King
Average review score:

Goodbye Thursday, Goodbye.....
It was Thursday, Bruno the bear's birthday, and he had such a wonderful and fun time that he wished it didn't have to end. "He knew his birthday would be gone in the morning. So, wondered Bruno, what happened to it during the night? Where did it go?" Bruno just had to find out, and so along with his duck friend Bert embarks on a middle of the night odyssey to find Thursday and say goodbye. "First they came to a bridge. A gentle river gurgled beneath. "Oogle, gurgle. Oogle gurgle," it said. "Is that you, Thursday?" Bruno called out. "We've come to say goodbye." But there was no reply." Then on to the park, the lake, up the big hill to the train tracks, and even the seashore. Each time they called out their goodbye to Thursday. And each time there was no reply. Sad and defeated they head back home, and Bruno tells Bert what his Thursday would look like if he could find it ...round like his birthday cake, bright like his candles, and happy like his balloons. Just then, Bruno and Bert look up and see the big, glowing moon. "Just like Thursday..." Janeen Brian's simple, whimsical, and engaging story begs to be read aloud and shared, and is complemented by Stephen Michael King's expressive watercolor artwork that sparkles with lovely nightime detail. Together word and art create a magical, gentle, and soothing bedtime story. Perfect for preschoolers Where Does Thursday Go? is a sweet little treasure that's soon to become a special favorite at your house.

Perfect for Pre-schoolers
Where is Christmas Jesse Bear? Join Jesse and his bear family as they explore the sights, sounds, smells, activities and feelings that make this time of the year so wonderful. Is it the beautiful prickly tree or the ornaments and lights? Is it the aroma of cookies baking and spicey apple cider? Is it the music we hear, the wrapping of presents, the glow of candles or the falling snow? Jesse Bear finds out it's all these things and much, much more...most importantly, that warm feeling in your heart that comes from celebrating with family and friends. Nancy White Carlstrom's newest Jesse Bear book really captures the spirit of the season with this warm, gentle, rhyming story, as we watch Jesse and his family get ready to celebrate Christmas together. Her text is beautifully complimented by Bruce Degen's expressive, colorful, detailed illustrations and together they bring pre-schoolers the holiday message of peace on earth and joy to the world.

Where's the Bear?
Published in Paperback by Mulberry Books (October, 1991)
Authors: Charlotte Pomerantz and Byron Barton
Average review score:

A colorful, exciting book for preschoolers!
We checked this book out of the library for son, who will soon be three years old, and it is now one of his all-time favorite books. I just dropped into Amazon.com to order him a copy of the book for his very own.

There are almost no words in the book, just enough to help you figure out what's going on. You and your child provide your own story as you turn the pages. My son can tell the whole story himself now and gets very excited as we get closer and closer to the page where the bear appears. He really thinks he's "reading" and asks for this book again and again.

White Grizzly Bear's Legacy: Learning to Be Indian
Published in Hardcover by University of Washington Press (June, 2003)
Author: Lawney L. Reyes
Average review score:

Read and understand a beautiful soul.
Lawney Reyes is the artistic member of a remarkable Native American family. His brother was Bernie Whitebear, the leader who founded United Indians of All Tribes Foundation in Seattle and led the fight to build the Daybreak Star Cultural Center at Fort Lawton. Their sister, Luanna, was responsible for the establishment of the Seattle Indian Women's Health League. And Lawney, well, Lawney is a superb artist who has created many, many beautiful sculptures and works of art that grace homes, buildings and institutions throughout our state. He is a quiet and unassuming man who has written a quiet and unassuming book of great power and grace. Read it and understand the man. Read it and understand his family, his people, his odyssey. Marvel at the character and talent that has found expression in Lawney and his brother and sister. Thanks to the University of Washington Press for publishing this book so that more people can know and remember.

My grandchildren enjoyed this book
My four granddaughters truly enjoyed me reading this book aloud to them. The older ones, in first grade, found the book to be an "easy reader" and especially liked the coloring pages. It is beautifully illustrated and has a message of friendship and caring that we should want all of our young people to receive.

Who Hid the Honey?: Roly Poly Lift the Flaps (Lift the Flaps.)
Published in Hardcover by Mouse Works (March, 1997)
Authors: Lisa Ann Marsoli, Jim Volare, Dicicco Digital Arts, and Mouse Works
Average review score:

a book they'll sit still for
There are lots of eye-catching books out there that we grown-ups love but our children don't sit still for. This is one book they like to look at -- they eagerly reach for the flap on each page and lift it, and help turn the pages (it's a board book so that's easy). It's not one of those books with complex contraptions -- wheels to turn, tabs to pull and push and misguide. Just simple flaps to lift up and put back down. Strongly recommended as a very first really-sit-down-and-read-it book. Similar to "Where's Maisy?" and that family of lift-the-flap books. Good to read to kids less than one year old.
